Dzulfikaar Sutandar

Dzulfikaar embarked on his musical journey at the age of 22 and has remained committed to the guitar while pursuing a full-time Research career. In July 2020, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts – Extended Major in Sociology and Minor in Music Psychology from The University of Queensland (Australia).

Although much of his musical experience is inclined to performance and music cognition under Dr Mary Broughton's supervision, he gained significant interest in music teaching. He recently attained the Trinity College Rock and Pop Grade 8 Syllabus in Music Performance with distinction and the world's renowned Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Grade 5 Syllabus in music theory.

Dzulfikaar has also performed with various local artists and festivals such as Baybeats in Singapore, Prudential Light Gastrobeats 2018 and The Esplanade Live with his band, Sensorial – a five-piece female-fronted rock band. Furthermore, he collaborated with artists abroad, working as a session musician. His most significant music contribution is integrating music performance and psychology to help patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease improve their motor coordination at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

Dzulfikaar believes that "Music is life itself" and can bring the best out of anyone. He hopes to impart his existing knowledge and experiences while keeping his classes in a fun and easy-going environment where people of any age group feel consistently encouraged to be the musician they aspire to be.
