Cathie Fletcher

Since childhood I’ve had a desire for knowledge spanning many disciplines, and I have completed a masters degree in fine arts, a science degree majoring in physics and maths, and of course, my piano teaching qualifications through the AMEB. My 30+ year journey through the creative arts and performance has also involved entertaining children at festivals such as Out of the Box at QPAC and ‘Ideas at the Powerhouse’. I’ve always loved kids and gotten on well with them, and had a lot of fun raising two of my own.

Having done my early piano exams as a child, and the last ones as an adult, I have empathy for the pressures and difficulties experienced at all stages of the learning journey. I have also seen the rewards of these efforts, having played keyboards in a band for many years. The social and confidence-building benefits of learning an instrument and performing are enormous, and I would love to see all kids try their hand at music and see these benefits first-hand.
